Dayton Reunion in 2010

Members would find the NMUSAF quite different than they experienced in 1996. By 2010 it will be twice the 1996 size, with two additional hangar bays and a missile bay being added over the interval. There are many more dioramas to bring history alive and tell our story. Among other new aircraft, newly restored RB-47, B-2, F-22, and various stealthy birds are on exhibit. The museum also hopes to have a Space Shuttle by 2010. Additionally, on the old Wright Field flightline, across the field from the museum, are two hangars which house the Presidential aircraft fleet and the many USAF R&D birds which never made it into the inventory. The Memorial Park, where we dedicated a bench in 1996 has grown considerably, and you can now find monuments to SAC, the B-47, AF Medal of Honor recipients, and many other units and associations. At one side of the museum is a reconstructed World War II 8 th Air Force facility as existed in the UK. For diversity, the IMAX theater has four different films for your viewing pleasure. With all this, one can safely spend several days in the museum if so inclined.

Our concept for the reunion, would be very much like we had in 1996: A “dinner under the wings” in the museum, with music from the Air Force Band of Flight, a riverboat dinner cruise on the mighty Ohio River at Cincinnati, and our traditional banquet during our last evening together. We would allow plenty of free time for folks to browse the museum or to visit in the hospitality room as they desire.
